Marie and Steve live in Hawaii, but they actually met while both attending Le Moyne College. Many of their friends and family live in New York, so when deciding what they wanted to do about a wedding celebration, Steve proposed having two weddings. Marie said, “absolutely not” and then they did it anyway. This story was all a part of Marie and Steve’s humorous, yet overwhelmingly sweet vows recited to each other and those who gathered to celebrate with them. Their first wedding was just 5 days beforehand in Hawaii and many of their closest family and friends made the trips to be a part of both.
The idea for this celebration began as more of just a reception, but more and more developed into a full on wedding celebration, ceremony and all. The affair took place at The Cazenovia Club, overlooking the beautiful Cazenovia Lake. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect – a sunny and warm, but not too hot late August day. Already being officially married, it was an easy decision to knock out the formal shots first, before the majority of the guests arrived.
After family and bridal party photos, we were able to spend a little bit of time with Marie and Steve by themselves. Being that we lived thousands of miles apart, this was the first time I had spent time with the newlyweds in person. I knew almost immediately that I was in for a fun night! They made my job easy, needing almost no direction and just interacting naturally together, looking lovingly into each other’s eyes, the type of way that makes anyone swoon, goofing around and making each other laugh. It was easy to see why these two make such a great pair – the evidence is in the pictures below. 😍
The reception was electric and the energy could be felt across whole second floor of the venue – I could actually feel the floor start to bounce beneath my feet as I weaved through guests dancing their hearts out. Steve surprised everyone when he joined the band wielding a saxophone and added that little extra zest to the room already full of joyful energy.
I could not have asked for a better couple to work with – their silly, light-heartedness and obvious lust for life made them a joy to work with. Some spontaneous moments made for some amazingly fun shots. So excited to share all of these beautiful memories!
