Wedding | Kara & Tom | Chantelle Marie Lakehouse & Celebration Hall | Auburn, NY

I hadn’t seen Kara in years when she asked me to photograph her wedding. We once lived next door to each other, many, many years ago. My family and I moved away when I was about 7 years old. Being that young, it’s not a surprise that we eventually lost touch, but thanks to the realm of social media, we remained connected. She had since moved to Boston, where she met Tom. A few weeks before the wedding, we met up to go over the details; this was the first time I saw the two of them together and the obvious love they shared paired with their hilarious sense of humor, made me that much more excited to be a part of their special day.

Kara wanted to have some getting ready photos done at her parent’s house, a place I hadn’t been to in a very long time. The drive there was a bit nostalgic, as some of my very first memories take place in this neighborhood. This trip down memory lane, the perfect weather along with so many familiar faces made this wedding extra momentous for me. Not to mention Kara and Tom, who were just the sweetest, and made the day soo much fun.

There was a chemistry between these two that was undeniable; the kind of love you don’t see everyday, the kind that makes my job easier. I absolutely loved the venue they chose as well. Chantelle Marie Lakehouse & Celebration Hall offered a variety of spots to shoot with plenty of room for dancing and mingling. Twelve or so hours later, after the pig’s head had been roasted, the final song was played, and the last of the sparklers had burned out, the celebration came to an end. It was an amazing day and one that will, I’m sure, be remembered by all that were there for years to come. Congratulations Kara & Tom!
